The joint security initiative proposes:
- There will be a single security company for Greenside and Emmarentia selected by a competitive tender process.
- A Section 21 company will be established to manage the security.
- The security company will be proactive in fighting crime through co-ordination of patrol vehicles, motor bikes, foot patrols etc.
- All guards will have two way radios on the same frequency.
- The security company will be held accountable for services.
- The community will be involved.
- The security company will work with the police and council.
The security committee has been established and is answerable to the Emmarentia and Greenside Residents' Associations.
A number of meetings have been held since April. Minutes of these meetings are available on the website. Emmarentia and Greenside residents have been addressed at general meetings.
